A home outdoors: Find your perfect tent
Camping is one of the best ways to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a while and enjoy nature to the fullest. To ensure that you can sleep peacefully and well protected at night after an exciting day in the fresh air, choosing the right tent is crucial. We explain what you should definitely look out for when buying.
Size makes all the difference
The first decision you need to make when looking for your tent is about the size. Tents are available in all sizes, from compact one-person tents to spacious family tents. You should therefore first ask yourself how many people you want to shelter and how much luggage you need to store. An integrated awning may also be useful for this.
Protected from wind and weather
Next, you should think about what kind of weather your tent needs to withstand. For summer camping trips, a simple throw tent with good ventilation may be sufficient, but for colder nights you will need a more wind and weatherproof version with a double wall and sturdy frame.
Material and weight
This is where cheap tents differ from high-quality tents. Depending on the material, the water column of your tent will of course change, which is particularly relevant for multi-day tours with unstable weather. In addition, the durability and weight are also determined by the composition of the fabric and the poles. So if you want to take your tent on a multi-day hiking trip, you should attach importance to keeping the weight as low as possible, whereas additional functions that may increase the weight can massively increase comfort on a short camping trip. All of this in turn influences the price of the tent.
Do I need accessories?
If, for example, you already have a tent that is not quite suitable for your planned tour, you can often help out with accessories. For example, additional guy ropes, special tent poles or extra robust pegs can provide more stability. Lighter aluminum versions can also reduce the overall weight. To protect you and your tent from the rain, you can pack an additional tarpaulin and there are specially designed groundsheets to protect the tent floor from moisture or stones. If, despite everything, a hole should appear in the tarpaulin or a tent pole should break, you can repair both with a few tools.
Perfectly prepared for your outdoor adventure
Choosing the right tent for your tours requires a lot of thought and thorough research. There are big differences, especially in terms of material and weight, which will affect your camping experience, but also the price. It is important to weigh up the requirements and personal preferences carefully and find a balance between price and performance.
