Innovative glasses and helmets from Bavaria
Alpina was founded in 1980 in Friedberg near Augsburg in Bavaria. As a subsidiary of the Franconian company Uvex, which at that time had already been successful in the field of protective eyewear for more than 50 years, Alpina initially produced innovative ski goggles and sunglasses with great success.1985 saw the launch of Alpina Ski & Surf shield goggles, which were later given the name SWING. SWING became Alpina's best-selling sports glasses worldwide.
Since 1992, bike and ski helmets have also been part of the product range. Uncompromising protection is Alpina 's claim in this field. The helmets already meet and exceed the required standards, but are still being developed continuously. Materials, technologies and production processes are to be permanently optimized to ensure the highest level of safety, ergonomics and comfort. Alpina protectors provide even more protection when skiing. With vests specially designed for women, men and children, the protectors provide optimal comfort and safety.
A large range of the products is developed at the company headquarters in Sulzemoos between Munich and Augsburg. Production is also mainly located in Bavaria. With the claim "Made in Germany" Alpina not only wants to ensure high product quality, but also sends a strong commitment to Germany as a place to work.
Safety is top priority
Alpina's various technologies primarily serve one goal: protection. Special Hard or Ceramic Shells provide the helmets with an impact-resistant and break-resistant outer shell. The core made of Hi-EPS (High Expanded Polystrol) absorbs the forces that act during an impact. The material thus ensures an optimum protective effect and at the same time permits extra-thin wall thicknesses and narrow helmet shapes.
On the other hand comfort is also given high priority. With various adjustment options, each helmet can be individually adapted to the customers head. The so-called Run System allows to precisely adjust the size with a rotary wheel on the headband. With the 3D-Fit System the height of the band at the back of the head can also be adjusted.Especially innovative is the Ergo3 technology for ski helmets. Here, it is not the circumference of the helmet that is adjusted, but the volume. This way the shell adapts to the head all around and thus significantly increases both wearing comfort and safety. The venting system provides the necessary ventilation. Depending on the weather, the ventilation holes can also be closed with the Airstream Control.Especially innovative is the Ergo3 technology for ski helmets. Always have a clear view
Alpina has developed numerous technologies for its eyewear that ensure the best vision in all weather conditions. Quattroflex lenses eliminate reflections and glare and clearly highlight contrasts. This is particularly helpful in snow where contrasts are low. With Varioflex goggles, the tint of the lens automatically adjusts to current weather conditions. With the moisture-repellent nanostructure Hydrophobic, water and dirt roll off easily and the fogstop coating prevents fogging of the lenses. Ski goggles with a Spherical Lens or 180°+ View allow a significantly improved all-round view. Furthermore, all Alpina lenses offer 100% UV-A, -B and -C protection.
As with helmets, comfort is also important for goggles. Sports goggles with Coldflex Technology, for example, offer the possibility of individually adapting the material to the face at the temple ends and the nasal flights. The so-called Flexible Frame glasses are extremely flexible and therefore virtually indestructible. With the Twist Fix mechanism the lenses can be changed very easily. Ski goggles are ergonomically adapted to the shape of the face thanks to the flexible plastic bars of the Comfort Frames. Small ventilation holes integrated into the so-called venting lens panes prevent the goggles from fogging up. The special Skid Grip rubber coating on the inside of the goggle band ensures that the goggles stay on the smooth surface of the ski helmet.
