Spyder
High-end ski wear from Colorado
Spyder was founded by David Jacobs, a former member of the Canadian national skiing team. At the end of the 1970s, Jacobs decided to produce his own ski jackets at a ski race of his sons out of dissatisfaction with the existing range of products. So in 1978 he founded his company David L Jacobs, Inc. in Boulder, Colorado.
After the successful introduction of racing jackets, he soon began manufacturing ski pants. The stripes on the pants earned them the name "Spider Pants" because they reminded of spider legs. Jacobs then renamed his company accordingly, and the Spyder brand was born.
Today, Spyder is best known for its functional and durable ski jackets and pants, continuously pushing boundaries in terms of technology and design.
Technological innovation
When it comes to ski wear technology, Spyder has long been a pioneer. Whether the brand is outfitting world class professionals or passionate hobby skiers, the dedication to innovation remains the same. By collaborating with leading technologies, Spyder ensures the best comfort and performance on the slopes.
Examples of the manufacturer’s continuous efforts to create better materials include “Pow Pow” created in 2019 with GORE-TEX or the new proprietary fabric "EXO shield" with 4-way-stretch, 30.000 waterproofing, breathability and a high percentage of recycled materials.
Committed to sustainability
To protect the beloved winter sports season, it is paramount for Spyder to prioritize their environmental impact. To achieve this, the Colorado company incorporates recycled materials and innovative construction techniques that affect the planet as little as possible.
Spyder’s commitment further extends into ethical responsibility, as the brand consistently re-evaluates how their products influence climate change. The results serve as the basis for further design and production processes to optimise sustainability.
