Ski - Made in Germany
The master wainwright Georg Völkl originally produced carriages in Straubing, Lower Bavaria. When his son Franz took over the company at the beginning of the 20th century, he expanded the product range to include boats and sleds. From 1923 on skis were also sold, although initially under the name Vöstra.
Franz Völkl junior brought even more fresh wind into the company in the 50s. As the third generation of the Völkl family to head the company, he initiated a fundamental modernization of ski production. These innovations included the legendary Zebra ski, which became a worldwide sales hit in 1967 with its revolutionary design.
Völkl has also been represented in alpine ski racing since 1970, a fact that has greatly advanced the development of the Bavarian ski manufacturer. Athletes such as Hanni Wenzel, Martina Ertl and Nicole Hosp have raced with Völkl to World Cup victories, World Championship titles and Olympic medals. Today, Völkl is also strongly represented among freestyle professionals.
At the beginning of the 1990s Franz Völkl sold Völkl to a Swiss company at the age of 65. That's why the company is now based in Baar, Switzerland. However, the factory where the skis are produced is still located in Straubing. Völkl also works closely with ski binding manufacturer Marker and the ski boot brand Dalbello under the MDV Sports association..

Innovative with the experience of professionals
With the Built Together initiative Völkl is bringing experienced professional athletes on board. Together with top athletes, engineers and well-known artists, product management develops innovative, stylish and at the same time authentic ski models.
Völkl's latest developments include the 3D.Glass Center technology. The new three-dimensional glass construction ensures greater skiing stability, especially in difficult snow conditions. Not only does it make the ski more lively, the edges also grip hard and icy slopes much better.

Sustainable production
In production, Völkl not only emphasizes quality and innovation, but also sustainability. Starting with the selection of materials and extending to the deployment of employees. Harmful substances such as plastic or solvents are largely replaced by biological alternatives or recycled material. For example, the edges are made of recycled steel, the wooden cores come from sustainable forest cultivation and the clothing complies with the Global Organic Textile Standards. The company also offers its employees a range of sports activities with the "Völkl Moves" program, including ski and snowboard lessons and wellness days to improve their work-life balance.
