Since its foundation in 2008, the outdoor outfitter from Kiel has stood for functional outdoor clothing with the highest sustainability principles. Sustainability and the vision of closing the textile cycle determine the entire mindset of the PYUA brand. Since the winter season 2021/22, the new brand identity, the design language and the collection clearly show: PYUA no longer makes any compromises.

Inspired by the weather in northern Germany, the rough conditions on the sea and of course the mountains, PYUA produces high-quality clothing for environmentally conscious freeriders, ski tourers and other winter sports enthusiasts. Anyone who wants to experience nature, in any weather, needs good clothing that warms and protects against environmental influences.

However, outdoor clothing is often produced in a way that is detrimental to nature. PYUA tries to resolve this contradiction - as the world's first brand for functional clothing that is made exclusively from recycled and recyclable materials and can be completely recycled. This philosophy is also reflected in the brand name. PYUA comes from Asian and means "pure" and "clear". The tilted 8 in the logo stands for infinity and the brand's closed recycling cycle.

The company's goal is to keep its ecological footprint as small as possible. This means making production as resource-friendly as possible, minimising CO2 emissions and developing products that are as free of pollutants as possible. However, the fashion aspect does not fall by the wayside. PYUA proves that eco-clothing can look modern and stylish.

Sustainability as a mission for eternity

Under the name Climaloop, for example, PYUA has developed its own laminate. The sophisticated weather protection is made of recycled materials and is impregnated without harmful fluorocarbons. However, performance is not neglected either. Products with Climaloop are 100 percent waterproof, breathable and windproof. In addition, the Kiel-based manufacturer has developed the environmentally friendly materials Re-Dry, Re-Chill and Re-Heat, for which only recycled polyester fibres are used.

PYUA's high-quality products are designed to be as durable as possible. Closed-loop recycling comes into play to ensure that the used and discarded garments do not simply end up in the trash. This means that the products are not only made of 100% recycled materials, but are also completely recyclable themselves. Old PYUA products can be collected through the retailers as well as in the well-proven old clothes containers that can be found in every city. They are then returned to the closed loop via professional recycling partners.

PYUA does not only attach importance to ecological sustainability, but also takes social responsibility. Since 2014, the brand has been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation, which is committed to fair working conditions in textile production.
