Salewa Ergo Belay System

The Ergo Belay System from Salewa is the ideal belay device for climbers who value maximum safety and user-friendliness. Developed in collaboration with Chris Semmel, an expert in alpine and climbing accidents, this device offers an innovative blocking function that responds to even the slightest pull and is still easy to release. This belay device is particularly suitable for lead climbing routes, as it enables quick rope deployment without unintentional blocking and ensures a rapid change between hauling in and deploying the rope.
The Ergo Belay System is characterized by intuitive handling and a high operating error tolerance, which makes it a reliable companion for climbing, indoor climbing, mountaineering and alpine tours. The ergonomic design ensures that the braking hand always remains on the rope, making it unnecessary to change grip and the braking principle is never violated. Thanks to the simple and easy-to-adjust release function, controlled and safe lowering of the climbing partner is guaranteed.
With EN 15151 and UIAA 129 certification, the device meets the highest safety standards. The Ergo Belay System is suitable for rope diameters from 8.6 to 11 mm and is perfectly complemented by the 1718 HMS Belay Twist Lock carabiner as an accessory. With a compact size of 70x20x40 mm, it is easy to transport and still offers all the functions that a modern climber needs.
