Salewa Ergo Belay System

The Ergo Belay System from Salewa is an innovative belay device that has been specially developed for climbers and boulderers. It offers maximum safety thanks to a blocking function that responds to even the slightest pull and is still easy to release. This ensures fast rope deployment without unintentional blocking and enables a quick change between hauling in and deploying the rope, ideal for lead belaying. The device was developed in collaboration with Chris Semmel, an expert in alpine, climbing and avalanche accidents, who contributed his extensive experience to the development.
The Ergo Belay System is characterized by its intuitive handling and high operating error tolerance. Even in the event of operating errors, there is no total failure, which further increases safety. The ergonomic design enables safe holding and metering of the release speed without the braking hand ever having to let go of the rope. This ensures optimum movement and maximum safety when climbing.
With a size of 70x20x40mm and suitable for rope diameters of 8.6 - 11 mm, the belay device is compact and versatile. It meets the EN 15151 and UIAA 129 certifications, which confirms its high quality and safety. The 1718 HMS Belay Twist Lock carabiner is available as an accessory, which perfectly complements the functionality of the system.
