Salewa Alpine-tec Hammer

The Alpine-tec Hammer from Salewa is an indispensable companion for passionate mountaineers and climbers who move in demanding alpine environments. This lightweight hybrid-ice axe was specially developed for mountaineering in steep terrain and on technically challenging routes. Thanks to its ergonomically shaped head, the ice axe is particularly comfortable to hold and offers a high level of comfort both on the ascent and on the descent when used as a support.
Equipped with a sharp, aggressive 3 mm carbon steel blade, the Alpine-tec hammer reliably penetrates ice and snow. The balanced weight distribution with a center of gravity in the investment casting-steel head ensures good anchoring, while the slightly curved upper shaft allows more freedom of movement and effective penetration into steeper terrain. The robust, replaceable carbide tip at the end of the shaft offers excellent grip on hard snow or ice.
Another highlight is the minimalist, ergonomic hand rest, which can be adjusted without tools, as well as the sharpened shovel, which enables effective step chopping and ledge chopping. The Alpine-tec hammer is also compatible with the self-locking SALEWA hand rest and -sling and offers practical openings for carabiners on the ice axe head and shaft end. The anodized and hardened High-Tech 7075, T6 aluminum shaft ensures a long service life and robustness. Accessories available include a pick guard, a spike for ice axe, a hand rest for ice axe and a leash.
