Salewa Alpine-tec

The Salewa Alpine-Tec is a lightweight hybrid-ice axe that has been specially developed for mountaineering on technically demanding routes. It offers outstanding performance in snowy gorges and steep slopes, making it the ideal companion for ambitious mountaineers. The ergonomically shaped head of the ice axe is particularly comfortable to hold, which increases comfort both on the ascent and descent.
A sharp, aggressive 3 mm steel blade ensures reliable penetration in ice and snow, while the balanced weight distribution with center of gravity in the investment castingsteel head enables good anchoring. The upper shaft is slightly curved to provide more freedom of movement and facilitate penetration into steeper terrain. A robust, sharp and replaceable carbide tip at the lower end of the shaft improves grip on hard snow or ice.
The Alpine-Tec also has a sharpened shovel that enables effective cutting of steps and ledges. The minimalist, ergonomic hand rest can be adjusted without tools and offers additional comfort. The ice axe is compatible with the self-locking SALEWA hand rest and -sling and has openings on the ice axe head and lower shaft end for attaching a carabiner.
Made from anodized and hardened High-Tech aluminium 7075, T6, the ice axe complies with CE EN 13089, B and UIAA 152 certifications. It is a reliable tool for anyone who moves in challenging alpine terrain.
