The facts at a glance
Mammut Barryvox
The Barryvox® from Mammut is an outstanding digital 3-antenna-LVS device that has been specially developed for the requirements of hikers and mountaineers. With an effective search strip width of 70 meters and a reception range of up to 70 meters, this device offers impressive search performance. Thanks to the almost circular reception field of the X and Y antenna, reliable locating is guaranteed. The display is also very easy to read with polarized glasses and has a backlight that provides a clear view in all lighting conditions.
The acoustic user guidance makes it possible to keep an eye on the avalanche field during the search by using a tone sequence to indicate the direction of the buried victim. A reverse function prevents 180-degree-search errors and the group-check provides a quick and easy check of the transmission frequency and -strength of other avalanche transceivers to ensure correct functionality. The intuitive visual interface guides the user through all search phases and provides a clear overview of multiple burials.
The ergonomic design of the Barryvox® is impact- and break-proof and can also be easily operated with gloves on. An automatic self-test regularly checks the send and search signal as well as the batteries to ensure maximum reliability at all times. In the event of multiple spills, victims can be selected from a list, marked and unmarked. The automatic transmission switchover (Auto Revert) switches to SEND mode if a rescuer does not move for 4 minutes in order to react to a possible secondary avalanche.
The Barryvox® comes with a secure and comfortable carrying system and offers additional features such as the W-Link for better search performance and the ability to manage the device fleet. The software is upgradeable and the device works reliably in a temperature range of -25° to +45° Celsius. With a battery life of approx. 300 hours in SEND mode and a weight of only 210 g, the Barryvox® is an indispensable tool for every outdoor enthusiast.
