M's Rollercoaster Jacket

With Houdini's most advanced hard shell-series the goal was to change the experience of wearing a shell layer. To achieve a feeling of full freedom of movement, the basic principles of garment cutting had to be brought into question. Traditionally, this process is done working 2-dimensionally on a flat surface. Instead, with the Rollercoaster Jacket, the garment is draped from a single piece of fabric on a body to replicate the movements of mountaineering and freeride skiing - it's Made to move. Combined with the waterproof, highly breathable and quiet fabric, Loop Hardshell™, being fully protected from the elements has never felt so smooth. The Rollercoaster Jacket has all features of a top-of-the-line shell jacket, but still doesn't overdo it with pockets and technology. Instead, it's the garment cutting that makes it leader of the pack. With a 2-way, single hand, adjustable helmet compatible hood and velcro adjustments in sleeve ending, flexibility is always at an arms reach, while water repellent zips and fully seamed-seals minimizes water intrusion. A snow gaiter protects the core when riding in deep powder and zipped pockets over chest and internally keep your valuables organized all throughout the day. Made primarily from recycled fibers, recyclable, PFAS-free and Bluesign®-certified, the Rollercoaster Jacket also pushes the development in terms of minimizing environmental impact. Therefore, when it's finally worn out, you can bring it back to Houdini for recycling.

    Care instructions

    • Airing laundry instead of washing saves water and energy and extends the life of the garment. Be sure to wash your shell if it has been used in salt water or has become very sweaty or dirty, as this will weaken the performance of the garment. This can reduce the breathability of the fabric and damage the water repellent surface. The dirt can even allow moisture to seep through the fabric.
    • Use our wash bagz to protect your clothes and prevent fibres from leaking. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure you clean it and throw the lint in the bin. Never rinse it in water as we don't want the fibres to end up in lakes or oceans.
    • Machine wash cold
    • There are special detergents for shells, but mild detergents certified as environmentally friendly work just as well. Use the right dose.
    • Avoid fabric softener. This is not only harmful to our environment, but also has a negative effect on the performance of the clothing, especially on moisture transport and breathability.
    • Hang the shell out to dry. Just remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water repellent surface of the shell fabric. Use a drying cabinet, dryer, or iron. Make sure that the heat is well dosed so that the garment does not melt.
    • You can reapply or reinforce the water repellent treatment as needed with a wash or spray. Always use an organic DWR: You can find both a Spray and a Wash In in our webshop or in our stores.
    • Remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water repellent surface of the fabric.

    Technologies and manufacturing processes

    • Shell product with membrane

    • Loop Hardshell™

Robust material with mechanical stretch offers a high level of comfort. Resistant and quiet with a matte and supple finish. Waterproof, breathable and abrasion resistant ripstop construction.
    • Atmos™

Atmos Membrane™ is a hydrophilic non-microporous membrane. It allows moisture to escape on a molecular level. The more moisture it circulates, the better it wicks moisture away from the body. The Atmos membrane guarantees the high Houdini standard of function and sustainability that no other membrane on the market can match. The Atmos Membrane™ is made of polyester and completely free of harmful PFAS.
