A circumferential metal frame with a shape-stabilizing fibreglass cross brace keeps the load close to the body's centre of gravity, making it easier to carry heavy loads. Practical features such as the side zipper opening, the particularly large front compartment and the QuickStow system for sunglasses make the Katmai 65 a well thought-out companion. The hydration system compartment with SpeedClip hanger is compatible with the 3D-Hydro-Trek reservoir from Gregory, while the SideWinder bottle holder enables one-handed operation.
