As the first carabiner with a wire gate, the new and improved Black Diamond HotWire is still an essential piece of climbing gear thanks to its versatility. With the versatility of a wire gatecarabiner, the HotWire is ideal for both sides of a quickdraw, camalots, belay slings and more. Thanks to its revised geometry and hot-forged construction, we were able to shed a few grams while adding material where durability is most important. The HotWire now has a deeper diameter for clipping in, while the flat construction on the webbing side ensures that the sling does not twist. The larger rope contact surface not only makes the carabiner more durable but also protects the rope. We have also optimized the geometry of the Keylocknose to make clipping the rope and unclipping the bolts even easier. The HotWire is a timeless classic that is ideal for sport climbing, big walls and long, high-alpine ice routes
