Head
The inventor of the sandwich construction method
Head was founded in 1950 by the US-American Howard Head. Since he was unhappy with the heavy wooden skis, the aircraft engineer developed a new way of building skis. This "sandwich construction" can now be found in almost every ski.
Over the years Head has had several changes of ownership. Today the head office is located in Amsterdam and Kennelbach. The skis are produced in Kennelbach near Bregenz in Vorarlberg and in Budweis in the Czech Republic. However, the production of higher-priced models and the areas of research and strategy are mainly located in Austria. The Head ski bindings and ski boots are produced in Schwechat near Vienna.
The Head ski brand is also popular with top athletes in alpine sports. Professionals such as Josef Ferstl, Alexis Pinturault and Tina Weirather have already celebrated successes with Head. Record World Cup winner Lindsey Vonn was also among the Head athletes until the end of her career in 2019.
Hightech Skis von Head
The V-Shape seriesoffers an extra light all-mountain ski. Due to its light core of Karuba wood and graphene, the ski has less weight. Due to the tapered shovel shape, less technique and power is required for turns. The different versions of the collection range from the beginner model (V2) to the sporty model for good technicians on the piste (V8) or off-piste (V10)
The Supershape seriesis suitable for sporty skiers, as the models reliably provide power, balance and control. The ski is extremely responsive thanks to the extra long wood core and the larger aluminium inlay. Whether as an i.Speed for a skiing feel like a racer or as an i.Titanium that doesn't lose its float even in heavy snow, the Head Supershape enables quick edge changes, powerful performance and easy handling.
The Joy series for women scores with super light skis that bring control and balance on the slopes. Sporty high-performance female skiers will find the right model in the Super Joy or Epic Joy. For those with less experience, the Absolut Joy is a reliable ski. With the Total Joy, advanced female skiers have the ideal combination of stability and balance both on and off-piste.
With the World Cup Rebels series, Head offers a collection for racers and those who want to become such. The short radius of the i.SL is just right for Wedel fans. If you want to beat your best time and are looking for rapid descents like fine carving, the i.Speed is the right choice. Whether slalom or giant slalom, the i.Race is a racing ski for all days.
Perfectly adapted
Besides skis, Head's winter sports range also includes ski boots, bindings, helmets and goggles. To adapt the ski boots individually to the foot, Head has developed the Liquid Fit Technology. Via small tubes a liquid is injected into the tightened boot and one minute later it has the optimal fit for the respective skier.
The correct fit is also crucial for ski helmets. That's why they can be adapted to the exact shape of the head both horizontally and vertically with 3D Fit. Various ventilation systems also ensure a good helmet climate.
The ski goggles. provide the right view on the piste. These are equipped with Trans Vision Technology. This scratch-resistant lens technology increases contrast and is available as a red lens for active winter sports enthusiasts or a green lens for a relaxed day in the snow. With the Speed Snap Lens Exchange System, the lenses can be easily exchanged as required. In addition, the goggles have UV and anti-fog protection.
