Curiously, the idea for avalanche backpacks was not born during sports but during hunting. Five years after the founding of the company, the first ABS® avalanche airbag was presented at the ISPO in Munich. In 1996, the first ABS Double Airbag (TwinBag) with pyrotechnical-pneumatic trigger followed. Two years later, the company Deuter continued the development and ensured another breakthrough by optimizing the system. Since the 2000s, the development team has increasingly focused on the target group of backcountry skiers and snowboarders.

Felix Neureuther becomes an investor in ABS

Since 2018, Felix Neureuther has not only been a well-known testimonial of ABS, but also an investor. With this commitment he starts his professional future after his successful career as a professional ski racer.
