    Mountain Equipment Annapurna Mens Jacket

When the Annapurna was launched in 1970, it set a new standard for insulation clothing. The legendary jacket was developed for the visionary AnnapurnaSouth Faceexpedition and has warmed generations of climbers, explorers and expedition members in the coldest places on earth. Today, after 50 years, Mountain Equipment's Annapurna remains a benchmark in highly technical cold weather clothing. It combines the manufacturer's best insulation technology with a design that has been tested on countless high mountainand polar expeditions.
The latest Annapurna men's jacket is a robust expedition jacket designed for peaks up to 7000 meters and continuous use in the most demanding conditions in sub-zero temperatures. In icy temperatures, the high-quality goose down with a fill power of 700 cuin keeps the wearer warm. The Boxwall construction effectively traps the air and offers the down optimum space to develop its fill power. The double-layer, offset construction on the arms provides excellent insulation and wind resistance without restricting freedom of movement.
Additional layers of Polarloft synthetic fiber insulation on the front of the upper body, shoulders and forearms provide extra wind protection and prevent heat loss due to compression, for example from a heavy backpack. The durable DRILITE® Loft outer material is windproof and highly water-repellent, keeps out snow and protects against the strongest winds. The helmet-compatible hood sits close to the face thanks to the pleated halochamber and protects against the cold without being unnecessarily bulky.
With well thought-out details such as an insulated collar, robust, pre-shaped zippers and several practical pockets, the Annapurna offers maximum functionality in the most demanding conditions. Two large open meshpockets provide storage space and quick access to gloves or other essentials. An inner zippered pocket secures valuables and electrical devices. Two chest pockets and insulated hand warmer pockets provide additional storage options for snacks, headlamp or cards.

    Technologies and manufacturing processes

    • Fair Wear

Mountain Equipment has been a member of the non-profit organization "Fair Wear Foundation" since 2012 and is thus committed to implementing the highest standards for socially just working conditions in all operating and production facilities.
    • DRILITE®

DRILITE® is a monolythic PU membrane that is completely waterproof and breathable. Depending on the intended use, it is used as a 2.5- or 3-layer membrane.
    • Down 700

Our duck down contains at least 90% down, has a fillpower of at least 700 cuin and is DOWN CODEX® certified.
    • Offset chamber design

The unique, patent-pending 2-layer offset chamber construction provides more wind protection and thermal insulation than previous down jacket constructions. In addition, thanks to narrow chambers, it is significantly more comfortable to wear than comparably warm but often bulky boxwall jackets. To achieve this, quilted down chambers are sewn to a heat-reflecting inner layer in a staggered pattern. This eliminates cold bridges and provides maximum warmth.
    • POLARLOFT®

POLARLOFT® is our proprietary synthetic fiber. It is small compressible and has excellent insulation. Even when wet, it retains its thermal performance.
    • Octayarn

Octayarn is a hollow fiber whose cross-section resembles a cogwheel. The soft material can absorb moisture extremely quickly and also dries again quickly. The fibers store a lot of heat and thus provide optimal insulation.
