Mammut Smart 2.0

Intuitively operated belay device with reliable blocking of the climbing rope. The first generation of the Smart belay device was launched in 2009. Based on this experience, the Smart 2.0 offers a significantly improved braking effect as well as optimized geometry and intuitive handling. The newly developed Brems insert blocks the rope in the event of a fall. The securing method of the Smart 2.0 is kept analogous to the previous model and thus designed to match the reflex movements of the belayer.

  • The 80 gram Smart 2.0 is easy to operate and has no moving parts or levers.
  • The Smart 2.0 works on the Tuber principle, making it suitable for both lead climbing and top rope climbing.
  • In the event of a fall, the Smart 2.0 blocks the climbing rope and the newly developed high-performance brake insert interacts with the safety carabiner. It thus offers the belayer optimal support and more safety.
  • For the Smart 2.0, Mammut recommends using the Smart HMS. Suitable rope diameters are 8.7 to 10.5 mm.
