MIPS® is a low-friction protective layer inside a helmet. It is usually located between the inner lining and the EPS protective foam. This allows the head to be rotated in all directions by 10 to 15 millimeters relative to the helmet. This reduces the rotational movement transmitted to the brain during oblique impacts.
