The Ortles Edge Mid is a dynamic, lightweight and versatile boot for high alpine mountain tours that offers a precise and supportive fit. Its innovative materials and technologies make it the most versatile product in its category - it guarantees you both comfort and precision when ascending and descending. The shoe is particularly lightweight yet exceptionally robust, offering an ideal balance between durability and comfort, agility and protection. The abrasion-resistant Schoeller® nylon upper is reinforced with TPU inserts and a rubber rand for added protection from rocks and debris. Our patented SALEWA® 3F system is reinforced with Kevlar wires for added stability at the heel and ankle. Additional weather protection is provided by the GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort membrane with lightweight insulation and weather protection in changing conditions, including slush or deep snow. The high-performance Pomoca™ Alpine Dynamic outsole is designed to give you secure footing and grip on rock, snow and ice as well as good crampon compatibility. It features a precise Climbing Zone, the Pomoca S-Path design for particularly good walking properties and a special rubber lug design for improved grip. The EVA midsole inside the shoe provides good cushioning when walking and high precision on rock edges, while the customizable Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+) allows additional adjustment of the shoe for a tighter or wider fit - depending on what you need. On long, challenging hiking days, the integrated cushioning zones reduce the strain on your knees and ankles on the descent. And the Ankle Protector System (APS) does exactly what it says: The cuff made of thermoformed material offers you additional lateral support and protection for the ankle, especially when going downhill.
