Whether as an insulating mid-layer or as a third layer, the latest version of the Ortles Medium down jacket is one of our warm insulating jackets and was designed for alpine ventures in icy temperatures. In doing so, the jacket combines high thermal performance with a minimal pack size. In the filling, a 90:10 duck down and TirolWool® Hybrid Responsive insulation is used. The two insulating materials are placed in such a way that different parts of the body can be provided with just the right amount of heat retention. The duck down is certified according to the Responsible Down Standard and, with a bulking power of 750 Cuin, keeps you pleasantly warm even in bone-chilling cold. The TirolWool® Responsive material also warms when wet - which is why it is used on the hood, shoulders and cuffs. The lightweight nylon ripstop outer material meanwhile protects against abrasion, making it ideal for alpine pursuits. The close-fitting, rear-adjustable hood and high collar provide protection when it gets stormy and uncomfortable. The ergonomic fit of the sleeves and shoulders allows a high range of motion and prevents the jacket from riding up during overhead movements. Also practical is the two-button front zipper, which ensures easy access to the climbing harness and belay device. And if the temperatures - or the intensity - rise, the jacket can be quickly stowed in its own pocket. The Ortles Medium 3 down jacket comes in a medium thickness and combines light weight and minimal pack size.
