Mavic XA Flex

There are plenty of reasons to prefer flat pedals for trail biking. Many bikers like the extra confidence and control compared to clipless pedals and shoes. We designed the XA Flex to be the ultimate trail shoe for flat pedal lovers, with powerful pedaling efficiency, maximum traction and plenty of comfort on the bike as well as on foot. When you ride with flat pedals, you can vary your position on the bike in tricky riding situations much better. And another advantage: Where clipless pedals allow you to cheat when jumping over obstacles, flat pedals allow you to develop a better riding technique. In the XA Flex, the integrated reinforcement plate made of Carbitex material creates a stiff platform for efficiency and propulsion power, but it is flexible enough at the forefoot to offer comfortable walking characteristics. This is useful on trail rides when pedaling isn't the only thing that matters. On your adventure tours you will often have to climb steep climbs on foot, climb over slippery rocks or carry your bike through a stream. The sole of the XA Flex features special zones with soft, grippy Contagrip® lugs in the toe and heel area for more traction on foot. In the middle, the sole is smooth to offer maximum pedal grip. In addition, an extra layer of vibration dampening material provides some comfort and shock absorption against impacts and shocks coming from the pedals. The upper shoe made of a lightweight anti-rip material is particularly resistant on the trail. Its moulded-in toe cap protects against contact with rocks, roots and other trail obstacles. The material is also mud and water repellent as well as easy to clean. All in all, this is the ultimate counterpart for your flat pedals.
