That’s why Salewa’s clothing must also meet the highest standards, ensuring that the body remains optimally protected during the interplay of physical exertion and cold outdoor temperatures and doesn’t get chilled. This updated version of Salewa’s established Ortles Hybrid TirolWool® Responsive Jacket stands out for its proven hybrid body-mapping structure: Durastretch inserts are incorporated on the back and sides; thanks to the wool content (22 percent), they offer exceptional comfort, while the spandex ensures freedom of movement. In addition, strategically placed insulation zones made of TirolWool® Responsive ensure excellent body thermoregulation and can still provide warmth even when wet. The TirolWool® Responsive material used is sourced from high-quality wool from Tyrolean mountain sheep and is further enhanced with Responsive yarns. The yarns contain thermoreactive minerals that recycle the far-infrared energy (FIR) radiated by the body and slowly release it again. This creates long-lasting warmth. When conditions get really unpleasant, the close-fitting, insulated hood—adjustable at the back—offers additional protection. Should temperatures—or the intensity of the activity—rise, the jacket can be compressed and stowed in its own pocket. The jacket features a PFC-free DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish. In addition, the Durastretch material consists of 22 percent fine merino wool, which guarantees a comfortable feel against the skin.
