The facts at a glance
Salewa MS Ortles Couloir
The MS Ortles Couloir by Salewa is an award-winning, innovative and fully crampon-compatible mountaineering boot specifically designed for alpine mountaineering and climbing on ice and mixed terrain. Weighing just 725 g per boot and with a lightweight but strong carbon fiber frame, this boot offers technical precision, light weight, high-performance insulation and optimal protection in cold and wet conditions.
The upper part of the frame is reinforced with Kevlar® and PU, which improves protection and flexibility in the shin area. The Ankle Protector System (APS) made of carbon fiber offers excellent ankle protection and freedom of movement when walking. A hard-wearing PU rand protects the upper from damage caused by rock edges, scree and crampons. The combination of inner- and outer boot offers a waterproof, breathable membrane as well as an elastic and comfortable protective gaiter made of nylon with a waterproof YKK® zipper.
The Ortles Couloir's highly effective insulation ensures that your feet stay dry and warm even in extreme conditions, while the Vibram® Litebase outsole provides increased surefootedness and low weight. The outsole features climbing zones in the toe area, non-slip grooves and stepped lugs for better grip, as well as a heel zone that makes it easier to slow down on steep descents. The carbon fiber midsole supports stability and precision when cramponing while offering flexibility for different activities.
The Ortles Couloir is the ideal companion for demanding mountain tours, ice climbing and climbing on mixed terrain. Developed in collaboration with mountainguides and professional climbers, this boot sets new standards in terms of agility, precision and stability.
