The facts at a glance
Houdini W's The Orange Pants
What is so special about it? In the initial phase of development, this garment was nicknamed The Orange. And why? The brief to Houdini's design team was to create a completely waterproof, packable shellgarment that was no bigger than an orange when packed. The idea is that you can always pack these pants in your backpack and be prepared for any unexpected mountain weather. Full weather protection in an incredibly lightweight and compact form - that's the Orange Pants. How does it work? The idea behind the women's Orange Pants is that you can wear other items of clothing better if you wear them on top of each other. Let's not kid ourselves: if you're going for a run, a hike, a ski tour or a long climb, waterproof pants are rarely the most comfortable option(you usually want to maximize breathability). Nevertheless, you should never head out in unpredictable mountain weather without a pair. That's why we've developed a fully waterproof shelltrouser that you can take with you effortlessly and still always be ready when the weather turns bad. And when it comes down to it, the ultra-light, smooth and low-noise fabric ensures a high level of comfort. Which functions are offered? The Orange Pants for women are minimalist to save weight and volume. We have only added the bare minimum of extra features: waist and leg adjustments and zippers on the lower leg. The main feature of the garment is the concept and how it feels to wear it. These are no ordinary shelltrousers, but a completely new kind of ultra-lightweight suppleness that you will hardly feel, but that will still keep you dry in any storm. When should I use them? The Orange Pants for women were developed for mountain sports where weight and pack size are crucial: running, ski touring, mountaineering or traditional climbing. If you have them in your backpack, you won't notice they're there, and when the weather gets rough, they'll keep you dry and happy. Of course, they also make super lightweight and comfortable rain pants for those times when you're not storming through the mountains. The Orange Pants are made from recycled and recyclable polyester, enabling a cycle where nothing goes to waste. They are also completely free from toxic chemicals. If the garment is worn out, we ask you to return it to Houdini. In all our stores and at many retailers, Houdini's products are taken back for recycling.

Care instructions
- Airing clothes instead of washing them saves water and energy and prolongs the life of the garment. Be careful to wash your shell if it has been used in salt water or has become very sweaty or dirty, as this will weaken the performance of the garment. This can reduce the breathability of the fabric and damage the water repellent surface. The dirt can even allow moisture to seep through the fabric.
- Use our wash bag to protect your clothes and prevent fibers from leaking out. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure you clean it and throw the lint in the garbage can. Never rinse it in water as we don't want the fibers to end up in lakes or oceans.
- Machine wash cold
- There are special detergents for shells, but mild detergents certified as environmentally friendly work just as well. Use the right dose.
- Avoid fabric softener. Not only is it harmful to our environment, it also has a negative impact on the performance of clothing, especially moisture wicking and breathability.
- Hang the shell out to dry. Just remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water-repellent surface of the outer fabric. Use a drying cabinet, a dryer or an iron. Make sure that the heat is well dosed so that the garment does not melt.
- You can reapply or reinforce the water repellent treatment with a wash or spray if necessary. Always use an organic DWR: You can find both a spray and a wash-in in the webshop or in our stores.
- Remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water-repellent surface of the fabric.
Technologies and manufacturing processes
Emergency 3L
Ultralight 3-layer, fully waterproof outer layer with exceptional breathability. Very easy to fold, elastic and soft on the skin. Takes shell layer comfort to a new level.Shell product with membrane
Circular
This product is produced completely circularly. Means: It is made from either recycled and recyclable fibers. Most products in today's society have a linear life cycle where the earth's resources are extracted, used and then thrown away. This does not work in the long term and has a major impact on the environment. Instead, we want to close the production cycle and reuse materials we already have. But we need your help. If your Houdini clothing is completely worn out one day, please bring it back to us. We have recycling units in all Houdini stores and at many of our retailers.Recyclable
The material of this product is completely recyclable. Instead of becoming waste, the raw material can be used for new products. Our goal is not to extract any new raw materials from the earth's crust by 2030. Circular products, made from recycled or recyclable materials, can really change the rules of production culture. But we need your help. If your Houdini clothing is completely worn out, please bring it back to us. We have recycling units in all our own stores and at many of our retailers.
