Edelrid Salathe
The Salathe by Edelrid is a versatile helmet that’s perfect for outdoor adventures such as hiking, climbing, and ski touring. Weighing just 210 g, it’s one of Edelrid’s lightest climbing helmets while still offering excellent protection. The hybrid construction combines an ultralight EPP core with a robust hard shell in the upper and front areas to ensure optimal protection with minimal weight. This design not only provides excellent shock absorption but also high dimensional stability.
The helmet features a minimalist adjustment system that provides adjustable straps for a secure fit while also allowing for a compact pack size and good ventilation. Large ventilation openings ensure continuous airflow and heat dissipation, which is particularly beneficial during strenuous activities. For added comfort, the Salathe features a removable liner and ergonomic, washable padding.
Another highlight of the Salathe is the headlamp mount, which consists of two clips in the front and an elastic strap in the back, as well as the helmet’s shape, which is specifically designed for use with ski goggles. The helmet is CE-certified as a ski touring helmet in accordance with PCSR-002 11/2019, but does not meet the requirements of the EN 1077 standard for ski helmets. Side-mounted buckles on the chin strap further enhance comfort.
