2Vi and Mips in the helmet

2Vi is what Sweet Protection calls its construction in which shell, liner and Mips are designed to work together. According to Sweet, the two-layer Mips system allows controlled movement inside the helmet, designed to reduce rotational motion of the head in certain angled falls.

Helmet size and goggles

Measure your head circumference just above your ears, keeping the tape level. Helmets run from XS/S to XXL, and every ski helmet comes with fit pads. According to Sweet Protection, you choose goggles by helmet size: Clockwork fits S/M to M/L, Interstellar and Clockwork MAX from M/L up.

Crash replacement for helmets

According to Sweet Protection, you shouldn't keep wearing a helmet after a severe crash, even if no damage is visible. For this case, Sweet Protection has a crash replacement. Your purchase must be no more than three years ago, and you send in photos of the helmet and its label.

Frequently asked questions

Which RIG lens suits me?

RIG stands for Retina Illumination Grading. According to Sweet Protection, it is designed to boost contrast and keep colours as natural as possible. For snowfall and flat light, Sweet recommends Quartz, for changing weather Bixbite, for sun Topaz, and for bright sun at altitude Aquamarine.

Trooper, Grimnir or Igniter?

All three are built on 2Vi and Mips. According to Sweet Protection, the Igniter is the all-round helmet for the whole mountain, with adjustable ventilation at the front. The Grimnir has a full carbon shell and weighs 630 g, the Trooper 700 g.

What does Low Bridge Fit mean?

These goggles are cut for a low nose bridge. Sweet Protection suggests a look in the mirror: if the top of your nose bridge is level with your pupils or lower, Low Bridge Fit is likely to suit you better. It is available on models such as Durden, Boondock II and Connor.

How do I change the lens?

Only fit replacement lenses made for the same model; only an Interstellar lens fits the Interstellar. Otherwise, according to Sweet Protection, the lens won't stay in place and will interfere with your vision. Versions with Extra Lens already come with a second lens.

How do I care for helmet and goggles?

According to Sweet Protection, clean the helmet with water up to 30 °C and mild soap, and let it dry away from heat. Above 62 °C it will be damaged, so don't leave it in the car in hot weather. Rinse the goggles with mild soap and blot them dry with the microfibre bag.
