Trigger: glove to pole

With the Trigger system, the glove or strap clicks straight into the grip. Trigger S and 3D are built for skiing and, according to LEKI, release in a fall; Trigger Shark, for cross-country skiing, Nordic walking and trail running, only opens at the push of a button. The two are not compatible.

Measuring your glove size

Wrap a tape measure around your flat hand just below the knuckles, without the thumb. For men's and unisex gloves, according to LEKI, 21 cm corresponds to size 8 and 24.5 cm to size 9.5. Comfort Fit models are cut slightly wider.

Repair rather than replace

According to LEKI, almost all poles can be repaired, depending on age and condition. Grips, straps, baskets and tips can be replaced, and on folding poles individual segments too. You can change threaded baskets yourself; for glued grips and tips, LEKI recommends a specialist retailer.

Touring: adventures in the backcountry

LEKI shows touring poles for the ascent and descent, as adjustable three-section poles or as folding poles for the rucksack. According to LEKI, the touring baskets have a short edge for adjusting the heel riser and a long one for scraping icy skins.

Frequently asked questions

Which pole length is right for me?

The pole length advisor on leki.com uses your height with shoes and your sport to work out a recommendation. You adjust Vario poles continuously. Fixed-length poles such as the Smart Pacer Lite are bought in the right length straight away.

What do 3D and Zero mean on gloves?

3D models have the Trigger 3D system and click into alpine Trigger poles. According to LEKI, Zero models have no integrated Trigger system and are versatile in use.

Which hiking pole suits me?

LEKI recommends three-section telescopic poles with 18/16/14 mm tubes from a height of 180 cm or over 75 kg including rucksack. Below that, Lite models with 16/14/12 mm are enough. Folding poles (FX) are intended for sure-footed hikers with mountain experience.

Can I use a hiking pole for Nordic walking?

According to LEKI, no. Nordic walking poles have Shark grips that support extending the arm backwards; hiking poles have Aergon grips for support. The shaft, basket and tip also differ by sport.

How do I care for telescopic poles?

After your tour, pull the segments apart and let them dry so that no oxide layer forms inside. Wiping with a dry cloth is enough. According to LEKI, oil, grease and other lubricants don't belong on the pole.
