Solution Dyed
In solution dyeing, the dye is added to the liquid polymer before the fiber is extruded. The advantage of this technology is that energy and water consumption as well as carbon emissions are significantly reduced. With solution dyeing, the color runs throughout the yarn and not just on the surface as with conventional dyeing. This is easy to imagine if you compare the cross-section of a carrot (dyed throughout) with a radish (dyed only on the outside). Solution-dyed colors may not be quite as intense, but they don't fade like conventionally dyed materials.RCS Recycled Fabric
The substances or materials used in these products are certified as recycled in accordance with the Recycled Claim Standard. RCS is an international, voluntary standard that uses the ISO definition of "recycled". It sets criteria for third-party certification of recycled material and ensures responsibility throughout the supply chain. This saves weight and reduces the packing volume, while at the same time creating foam-supported, air-filled channels that significantly increase comfort. The Sea to Summit XPEL valve was the first valve designed specifically for self-inflating sleeping mats. It integrates a one-way inflation port, a large deflation port and a fine adjustment knob into a single, low-profile unit. The ingenious thing about the XPEL valve is that to release the air from the sleeping mat, the valve is reversed so that the air can escape but cannot return to the mat. This turns the one-way valve for inflation into a one-way valve for deflation - preventing the mat from filling up with air when rolled up. The XPEL valve fits onto the nozzle of an Airstream pump (sold separately) if you want to "inflate" your self-inflating mat, which you can also do manually.ASTM F3340 R-Value Testing
