The Ortles HMS C.3 M carabiner, made of lightweight, durable aluminum, is a large, pear-shaped HMS carabiner that is ideal for tying multiple knots or for belaying with a half-hitch. What sets it apart is its innovative locking system: The automatic locking mechanism has two functions, allowing you to switch between modes depending on the situation. This means the carabiner offers both the simplicity and quick handling of a standard HMS carabiner and the safety and protection of a Category 3 carabiner when you need it. Easy handling: In situations where greater safety is required, you can quickly and easily switch from the standard locking mechanism to the Pull-Twist Safelock system. The visually marked lock indicator is also immediately recognizable and provides an additional safety feature. At the same time, the carabiner is designed so that the gate opens very wide: This enables ideal rope and knot management—and ultimately saves valuable time that you need in alpine terrain. This is also supported by the tapered keylock nose, which prevents snagging on the rope or slings.
