Edelrid G-screamer

The G-SCREAMER from Edelrid is an indispensable safety tool for demanding climbing activities such as alpine climbing, big wall- and ice climbing. This innovative HMPE sling with integrated shock absorber was developed in collaboration with Simon Gietl and offers a reliable safety reserve for situations with questionable anchor points. In the event of a fall, the shock absorber tears open and reduces the dynamic force applied to the anchor point to less than 4 kN, which significantly reduces the risk of anchor point failure. With a length of 15 cm and a weight of less than 50 g, the G-SCREAMER is hardly heavier than a conventional quickdraw, but offers far greater safety.
The total length of the G-SCREAMER is 100 cm after the shock absorber is fully opened, which allows an effective braking distance of 85 cm. This feature makes it particularly valuable in alpine or icy environments, where the distances between belay points can be greater. In addition, the G-SCREAMER in combination with an EN 567 rope clamp meets the dynamic requirements of the EN 15151-1 standard, which makes it suitable for belaying on second ascent. This combination significantly minimizes the risk of rope damage if the second climber falls.
Please note that the G-SCREAMER must not be used as a replacement for a via ferrata set. Its special construction and functionality make it a specialized tool for experienced climbers who are out and about in challenging and potentially dangerous environments. The careful selection of materials and well thought-out design ensure maximum reliability and performance in critical situations.
