Men's & Unisex Ski Hats

A hat under your ski helmet mustn't change how the helmet sits. Without a helmet, on a tour or on cross-country trails, choose by wind and by how much you sweat.

Do I need a hat under my ski helmet?

No. Ski helmets are padded and often have adjustable vents. In hard frost a thin hat or balaclava helps. Readjust the helmet afterwards: it shouldn't wobble when you shake your head.

Why are my ears cold despite a hat?

Usually the edge rides up and leaves your earlobes exposed. A turn-up or a deep band that reaches below the ears stays put better.

How do men's and unisex hats differ?

Often only in colour and size range. What counts is the head circumference the brand gives.

How do I wash a hat with a bobble?

Many bobbles unpop: take it off before washing. Wash the knit on a wool or hand-wash cycle as the label says and dry it flat.
