P3 and No-Edge

P3 stands for Permanent Power Platform. It starts under the toes and, according to La Sportiva, is designed to keep a climbing shoe's downturn throughout its entire life. No-Edge takes a different approach: the sole edge is rounded rather than sharp, for more contact with the rock. The Futura is one shoe built this way.

Getting them resoled

According to La Sportiva, mountaineering boots can be resoled in an authorised workshop, except the Trango TRK GTX. Among approach shoes, only the TX2 Evo, TX2 Evo Leather and TX4 R can be resoled; mountain hiking models cannot. Resoling voids the guarantee.

Sizing and wide feet

The shoes come in EU sizes, often in half sizes too. The size chart assigns a foot length to each size. Measure from your heel to the tip of your big toe. For wide feet there are Wide versions, for example of the Bushido III and the Ultra Raptor II Leather.

Sights and sounds of Ziano di Fiemme

In just over two minutes, La Sportiva shows sights and sounds from its headquarters in Ziano di Fiemme in Trentino. According to La Sportiva, this is where its shoes and clothing for mountaineering, climbing, mountain running and hiking are made.

Frequently asked questions

What does GTX in the model name mean?

Models with GTX have a GORE-TEX membrane and, according to the product description, are waterproof. Without the suffix there is no membrane; the Ultra Raptor 3, for example, has a nylon ripstop upper.

Can I fit crampons?

The Trango Tech GTX and Nepal Evo GTX have a crampon insert at the heel. For hiking shoes such as the Ultra Raptor, the product data does not list one.

Can I put the shoes in the washing machine?

No. According to La Sportiva, this affects the structure of the shoe and can make a later repair impossible. A brush and lukewarm water are enough; dry them without a radiator or hairdryer.

How long does a trail running shoe last?

According to La Sportiva, the materials generally last no more than 600 to 700 km. La Sportiva does not recommend resoling these shoes.

My new shoe has a defect. Who do I contact?

Us. The statutory two-year guarantee is handled by the retailer you bought from, so contact our customer service with your order number and a photo.
