K2 was founded in 1962 in Washington and is named after the world's second-highest mountain, K2. The manufacturer is constantly working to expand its range. In winter sports, K2 currently produces skis, ski boots, snowboards, ski poles, bags and helmets, among other things. Inline skates round out the lineup.

Back in 1961, the brand developed and patented the first fiberglass skis. Fiberglass skis are lighter and can withstand higher loads than models made of wood or metal. Thanks to a special core, the skis are lighter in the middle, making them easy to control without losing stability. Whether you prefer groomed runs, the fun park or deep powder, K2 has the right ski for you.

Ski racer Marilyn Cochran won the first World Cup race on K2 fiberglass skis back in 1969. The brand has been sponsoring athletes around the globe ever since.

K2 also has its own technology for helmets: the 360 K2 Dialed Fit System™. This system ensures maximum comfort and a perfect fit, preventing pressure points. Helmet size is adjustable, and an easy-to-use ventilation system rounds off the helmet technology.

K2 focuses on sustainability

Sustainability plays a role at K2 too. For its snowboard bindings, K2 is increasingly turning to recycled materials for highbacks, straps and ratchets instead of the plastic and EVA traditionally used.

More than 40 percent of the manufacturing energy used for this comes from solar power, and the packaging is 100 percent recyclable, 95 percent of it FSC-certified.
