GORE-TEX or Sympatex

Many Superfit shoes have a membrane, from GORE-TEX or Sympatex depending on the model. According to Superfit, both are waterproof and breathable. This even varies within a series: Abby Nova and Tedd come with either. So check the details of each model.

WMS: wide, medium, narrow

Superfit is a WMS-certified brand. This system of the German Shoe Institute has three widths, W, M and S, so that, according to Superfit, shoes are neither too tight nor too loose. The width is listed in the product details. Superfit offers a printable WMS template for measuring at home.

Checking size on the insole

According to Superfit, a large part of the collection has a removable insole with markings. Stand your child on it: the toes should reach at least the lower line and at most the upper line. If they go beyond it, it's time for the next pair.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I measure my child's feet?

More often than you might think. According to Superfit, children's feet grow by two to three sizes a year on average between the ages of three and six, and by one to two at school age. Superfit therefore recommends measuring every 6 to 8 weeks at first, later every 4 to 6 months.

How much room does the shoe need at the front?

According to Superfit, about 9 mm in front of the toes for first walkers, later 12 to a maximum of 15 mm. This allowance is room to grow and for the foot to roll. You can hardly rely on your child's verdict when trying shoes on: according to Superfit, children barely notice whether a shoe pinches.

Can a GORE-TEX shoe go in the washing machine?

No. According to Superfit, the washing machine can destroy the membrane, and the shoe would then no longer be waterproof. Clean it with a soft cloth or sponge and lukewarm water. According to Superfit, new GORE-TEX shoes don't need waterproofing.

Is a sneaker with a fleece lining enough in winter?

Superfit calls the fleece lining in the Stella sneaker semi-warm. Winter boots such as Flavia and Husky have a warm lining; according to Superfit, Husky keeps feet warm even in snow and ice. The product details show which lining a model has.

Which slippers work for nursery and school?

Bill and Bonny have a hook-and-loop fastening and a non-marking sole that, according to Superfit, leaves no marks on the floor. Your child can also wear the Fussbettpantoffel, a slipper with a cork footbed and buckles, outdoors as a sandal in summer.
