Texapore and hydrostatic head

Texapore is Jack Wolfskin's waterproof technology, with a different hydrostatic head depending on the model. According to the manufacturer, the Icecape 3IN1 reaches 20,000 mm, the Moonrise 2 3IN1 10,000 mm. For comparison: sitting on a wet meadow puts around 2,000 mm of pressure on the fabric.

Three jackets in one

A 3-in-1 jacket consists of a weatherproof outer jacket and an inner jacket made of fleece, down or synthetic insulation, joined by a system zip. According to Jack Wolfskin, all 3-in-1-compatible jackets have the same connection points. So your old fleece jacket fits into the new outer jacket.

Repairs by the manufacturer

In its own workshop in Neu Wulmstorf, Jack Wolfskin repairs zips, press studs and hook-and-loop fastenings and reseals seams. For material or manufacturing defects in the first two years this is free of charge; otherwise a price list applies. Send the jacket in washed and dry.

Frequently asked questions

What do 2L and RDS in the name mean?

2L stands for two-layer material: the Jasper 2L, for example, has a 2-layer construction made of Texapore Pro. RDS means that the down is certified to the Responsible Down Standard.

What size should I choose for hiking shoes?

Jack Wolfskin recommends about one size larger than your everyday shoes, because feet swell over the course of the day. There should be around 1.5 cm of room in front of your toes, with the midfoot held firmly.

How do I wash a down jacket?

Rarely. Airing it is often enough. Otherwise, according to Jack Wolfskin, wash it on its own in a machine with a drum of at least 8 kg, on a wool cycle at 30 °C, with down detergent and no fabric softener. In the tumble dryer, two tennis balls fluff the down up again.

How does the jacket stay water-repellent?

The water-repellent finish (DWR) needs heat after washing: tumble dryer or ironing without steam, depending on the care label. If the effect fades, reproof the jacket and then activate the new treatment with heat as well.

Does the children's jacket grow with them?

Models with a grow-with-me feature do. Turn the item inside out and unpick the green thread in the hem channel. According to Jack Wolfskin, sleeves or trouser legs then become a whole size longer.
