From Sweden since 1914, starting with rucksacks: now ski jackets like Alper, rain jackets like Front Proof, down jackets like ROC Flash.

PROOF: Air or Pro

PROOF is Haglöfs' own waterproof material. According to Haglöfs, only items with at least a 10,000 mm hydrostatic head that are windproof and fully sealed get the label. Air is meant for intensive tours, Pro, as in Alper and Front Proof II, holds over 20,000 mm, for heavy rain.

Finding the right size

The Haglöfs size chart is based on your body measurements. Women's M fits a 94 cm chest, men's M 98 to 100 cm. Haglöfs gives the fit for each model: Alper and Front Proof II are Standard, the L.I.M Down II Hood is Slim.

Warranty and repairs

If a product fails due to a manufacturing or material defect, Haglöfs repairs or replaces it for the first owner, over its normal service life. For a recent purchase, according to Haglöfs, contact the retailer first, that is, us. The warranty does not cover wear and tear or accidents.

How to adjust your hiking rucksack

In just under two minutes, Haglöfs shows how to measure your torso length and adjust your hiking rucksack to it. Important, according to Haglöfs: the hip belt sits on your hip bones and carries most of the weight.

Frequently asked questions

What does Mimic in the name mean?

MIMIC is the synthetic fill from Haglöfs, made of polyester fibres that mimic the warmth of down. According to Haglöfs, it keeps you warm for longer in rain or high humidity and holds its shape better after long compression. It doesn't pack down as small as down.

What does the CUIN figure tell you?

CUIN is the unit for the fill power of down. For sub-zero temperatures or long breaks, Haglöfs recommends a down jacket with 600 CUIN or more, as in the Rosson Down Hood. The L.I.M Down II Hood has 800 CUIN. According to Haglöfs, though, such a jacket soon gets too warm on ski tours.

What does GTX in the name mean?

GTX stands for Gore-Tex. The L.I.M Airak GTX Jacket, for example, is made of 3-layer Gore-Tex with a soft C-Knit lining. If the hangtag says “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry”, according to Haglöfs, Gore gives its own guarantee on waterproofness, windproofness and breathability.

2L, 2.5L or 3L: what does it mean?

The number gives the layers of the waterproof material. With 3 layers, the outer fabric, membrane and inner layer are bonded into one fabric. With 2 layers, a mesh usually hangs inside, and with 2.5 layers a printed-on layer protects the membrane. This saves weight, as on the L.I.M Airak 2.5L Jacket.

How do I wash my shell jacket?

According to Haglöfs, at least once a year: with liquid detergent and no fabric softener, at 40 °C on a gentle cycle with an extra rinse, unless the care label says otherwise. Then into the tumble dryer for an extra 20 minutes. This reactivates the water-repellent finish.
