Silver and gold dots

Silver dots in the lining stand for Omni-Heat Reflective, gold ones for Omni-Heat Infinity. According to Columbia, both reflect body heat. You'll find them in Pike Lake and Oak Harbor, for example, and in the lining of Fairbanks and Minx boots.

Waterproof or water-repellent

Omni-Tech is Columbia's waterproof, breathable construction, used in Hikebound and Street Heights, for example. With OutDry Extreme the membrane is on the outside, so according to Columbia the fabric doesn't soak up water. Omni-Shield only means water-repellent.

Finding the right size

Columbia measures the body: according to the size chart, men's M fits a 97 to 104 cm chest, women's M a 91 to 95 cm bust. Extended sizes go up to 6X for men and 3X for women. Measure with a soft tape measure.

Omni-Heat Infinity explained

Columbia presents Omni-Heat Infinity as the next stage of its heat-reflective technology. An expanded pattern of gold dots is designed to reflect more body heat without reducing breathability.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 3-in-1 jacket?

A waterproof outer jacket and a warm inner jacket that you wear together or separately. Columbia calls the system Interchange. The men's Hikebound II 3-in-1 has a zip-in fleece inside, the women's jacket a sherpa lining.

Down or synthetic?

Amaze Puff and the Street Heights down jackets are filled with down, Pike Lake and Oak Harbor with Thermarator synthetic insulation. According to Columbia, Thermarator keeps you warm even when wet.

What shoe size do I need?

Columbia converts from US sizes: men's US 9 corresponds to EU 42 with a foot length of 26 to 26.4 cm, women's US 8 to EU 39. Stand with your heel against a wall, mark your longest toe and measure in centimetres.

What does 200 g mean on winter boots?

That is the amount of insulation that boots such as Fairbanks and Minx are lined with. On top of that comes an Omni-Heat lining that reflects body heat.

Do unisex models fit differently?

Yes. According to Columbia, unisex sizes follow men's sizing. As a woman, you may therefore need a size smaller.
