Salewa North-x ICE AXE

The North-X ice axe from Salewa is the perfect tool for classic north face routes and versatile applications in technical mountaineering. Whether steep firn fields, mixed or ice terrain, or glacier crossings - this ice axe is your reliable companion. The special handle design with a one-handed, infinitely height-adjustable hand rest that can be adjusted without tools locks when pressure is applied and offers maximum support, while it slides upwards when used as a support ice axe on steep firn walls, thus enabling an effortless ascent.
The hot-forged steel head sits comfortably in the hand when ascending and descending and the aggressive, replaceable pick sits securely in ice and rock. The 20° offset shaft and balanced weight distribution ensure optimum swing behavior and efficient placement. The insulating plastic grip zone protects against the cold, which is particularly beneficial on long tours.
Additional safety is provided by the integrated belay loop with a tensile strength of 5kN, which is also suitable for self-belaying. The ice axe is equipped with a replaceable carbide tip for better grip on icy ground. The North-X is also available with a shovel and hammer and offers a wide range of spare parts and accessories to extend the service life of the device.
