Salewa North-x Hammer ICE AXE

The North-X ice axe from Salewa is the perfect ice axe for classic north face routes and a wide range of technical mountaineering applications. Whether steep firn fields, mixedclimbing, ice terrain or glacier crossings, this ice axe offers maximum support and safety. Thanks to the specially developed handle design, the hand rest can be infinitely adjusted in height with one hand and without tools. It locks when pressure is applied, ensuring optimum grip on ice- or rock faces. When used as a support ice axe, the hand rest slides upwards, making the ascent particularly efficient and energy-saving.
The aggressive, replaceable pick made of investment castingsteel and the 20° offset shaft guarantee balanced swing behavior and secure placement in ice and rock. The insulating plastic grip zone protects against the cold, which is particularly beneficial on long tours. The North-X is also equipped with a standing sling, which has a tensile strength of 5 kN and is also suitable for self-belaying.
The ice axe is equipped with a replaceable carbide pick tip that provides better grip on icy ground. It is available with both a shovel and a hammer and is compatible with various spare parts and accessories such as the PICK GUARD, SPIKE FOR ICE AXE, HANDREST FOR ICE AXE, NORTH-X BLADE and LEASH. The North-X ice axe meets the highest safety standards and is certified according to CE EN 13089, T, EN 13089 Type 2 and UIAA 152.
