Edelrid Firn Guide

The Firn Guide by Edelrid is a technical mountaineering ice axe designed specifically for demanding high-altitude tours and classic mountaineering. With its lightweight aluminum shaft, it offers an excellent balance between weight and stability, making it ideal for long and challenging tours. The ergonomically shaped head ensures optimal handling and control, while the sandblasted and anodized surface of the shaft provides additional grip.
The Firn Guide's pick is made of stainless steel and tapers from 4 mm to 3 mm to allow for more precise positioning in the ice. The I-profile of the pick improves stability and ergonomics, making it easier to handle in extreme conditions. The shovel is aggressively shaped to make it easier to cut steps or dig in as a T-anchor, and is aligned at a right angle to the shaft to maximize efficiency.
Another notable feature is the large recess at the head, which is also suitable for large carabiners. The steel spike has an opening for attaching a carabiner, which increases the ice axe’s versatility. All EDELRID ice axes, including the Firn Guide, feature a standardized shaft profile that ensures compatibility with the finger rest.
