Salewa Ortles TWR M Jacket

The Ortles 2 TirolWool® Responsive Jacket is the perfect midweight insulation jacket for alpine mountaineering, ski mountaineering and ice climbing. Developed in collaboration with leading athletes and mountain guide associations in the Alps, it offers professional insulation and functionality as a warm, protective mid-layer or outer layer. It has a windproof and water repellent nylon ripstop outer fabric on the torso. At the shoulders and hem we use 2L Powertex for increased waterproofing and durability. Inside, TirolWool® Responsive, Salewa's proprietary TirolWool® Hybrid Technology insulation fill, provides the right blend of insulating performance and breathability. We use a 100-g filling. TirolWool® Responsive combines the natural benefits of wool from Tyrolean mountain sheep with high lanolin content with the state-of-the-art thermal regulation of Responsive technology. The wool keeps you warm even when damp, helps regulate body temperature and inhibits odor. Responsive is a patented blend of thermoreactive minerals that are pulverized and melted into a resin, which is then incorporated into the core of recycled polyester fibers. It has the unique ability to convert the body's radiant heat into infrared light, store it and gradually release it back into the body. This stimulates circulation and blood flow while maintaining long-lasting insulating performance and speeding recovery. In short: your body stays warmer for longer. The Ortles 2 TirolWool® Responsive Jacket features a Free Motion cut and now has a slightly longer, athletic cut that keeps it from riding up at the hem and fitting snugly under your harness when climbing. It can be worn alone as a warm outer layer or as an insulating mid-layer under an outer jacket. The warm drawstring hood has a zippered gusset that allows you to reduce its volume when you're not wearing a helmet. The high collar is integrated into the hood for extra neck protection. The two-way zipper on the front offers good access when belaying. Adjustable Velcro cuffs prevent wind and snow from entering and fit over winter gloves, while the adjustable hem with internal regulation locks in warmth. You can also stow the Ortles 2 TirolWool® Responsive in its compression pocket to save space in your pack.
