The Wildfire Edge is a shoe for technical approaches that can be transformed from hiking to climbing shoe. The Salewa Switchfit system is as simple as it is clever and was developed together with mountain guides and top climbers in the Dolomites: simply pull the laces together at the rear eyelet and up. This will pull your foot forward into the toe box, compressing your toes as if you were wearing a climbing shoe. After climbing, you can loosen the laces at the back eyelet, this will widen the toe box and provide greater comfort while hiking. To improve climbing precision, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an insole plate under the forefoot for added stiffness under the toes. The Pomoca Speed MTN sole works thanks to Pomoca butyl composite with improved grip and higher friction in dry and wet weather. The sole has a precision climbing zone in the toe area, good edging performance and aggressive lugs for improved traction in muddy and soft ground. For better torsional strength, the outer material is made of Exa Shell, which in combination with the 3-F system wraps around the foot for flexibility, fit and support. The climbing shoe lacing system goes all the way to the toes to provide a more precise fit and more customization options.
