The Shelter

The pure essence. The Shelter is an ultra minimalist shell jacket for ambitious mountaineers and daily adventures. Lightweight, durable, waterproof, breathable and equipped only with what you really need. Freedom grows through reduction. If a garment is produced for a specific sport, it is usually too specific for other activities. The design concept of The Shelter is reduced to a minimum, but is all the more flexible for it. It's up to you whether you use the jacket for freeriding, ski touring, bike commuting, kayaking or anything else. The Shelter is a portable multi-breath tool. Carry it in your pack and you'll be protected even when the weather changes. The Shelter is made of lightweight, durable and stretchy Loop Hardshell. The 3-layer waterproof and windproof hardshell fabric is made from 70% recycled polyester and is completely PFASen free. To reduce weight and dimensions, The Shelter has no zippers. Three buttons adjust the collar width and the helmet-compatible hood is fully adjustable. It has a large kangaroo pocket with inside pocket for mobile devices and ventilation mesh. Looking for a strong and super lightweight moutaineering shell that has everything you need and nothing more? Then The Shelter is a good choice. Thanks to the elimination of unnecessary extra features, it weighs only 460g Men's in size M and Womens in size L. Live light and free. The Shelter is fully recyclable and we ask that you return the jacket to us when it is completely worn out. This way we can use the raw materials for new products and nothing ends up in the garbage

Care instructions

  • Airing laundry instead of washing saves water and energy and extends the life of the garment. Be sure to wash your shell if it has been used in salt water or has become very sweaty or dirty, as this will weaken the performance of the garment. This can reduce the breathability of the fabric and damage the water repellent surface. The dirt can even allow moisture to seep through the fabric.
  • Use our wash bagz to protect your clothes and prevent fibres from leaking. When cleaning the bag and filter in the machine, make sure you clean it and throw the lint in the bin. Never rinse it in water as we don't want the fibres to end up in lakes or oceans.
  • Machine wash cold
  • There are special detergents for shells, but mild detergents certified as environmentally friendly work just as well. Use the right dose.
  • Avoid fabric softener. This is not only harmful to our environment, but also has a negative effect on the performance of the clothing, especially on moisture transport and breathability.
  • Hang the shell out to dry. Just remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water repellent surface of the shell fabric. Use a drying cabinet, dryer, or iron. Make sure that the heat is well dosed so that the garment does not melt.
  • You can reapply or reinforce the water repellent treatment as needed with a wash or spray. Always use an organic DWR: You can find both a Spray and a Wash In in our webshop or in our stores.
  • Remember to apply heat to the garment after washing to reactivate the water repellent surface of the fabric.

Technologies and manufacturing processes

  • Shell product with membrane

  • Loop Hardshell™

Robust material with mechanical stretch offers a high level of comfort. Resistant and quiet with a matte and supple finish. Waterproof, breathable and abrasion resistant ripstop construction.
  • Atmos™

Atmos Membrane™ is a hydrophilic non-microporous membrane. It allows moisture to escape on a molecular level. The more moisture it circulates, the better it wicks moisture away from the body. The Atmos membrane guarantees the high Houdini standard of function and sustainability that no other membrane on the market can match. The Atmos Membrane™ is made of polyester and completely free of harmful PFAS.
